Tania Duarte
Co-Founder and CEO of We and AI
Tania is Co-Founder and CEO of We and AI (weandai.org), a UK non-profit focusing on activating diverse communities to make AI work for everyone. Programmes are based around improving general levels of AI literacy and routes to participation in development or discourse related to AI. They include Better Images of AI (betterimagesofai.org) - a collaboration with BBC R&D and a global community of academics, activists, institutes and artists, coordinated by We and AI.
Tania is on the Founding Editorial Board for the Springer AI and Ethics Journal, Advisor to algorithmic bias mitigation software company Etiq.ai, and a Lead for TLA Tech for disAbility. She is a member of the IEEE P7015 Data and AI Literacy, skills, and readiness working group, and named one of Women in AI Ethics' 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics 2021.
Prior to this Tania spent 30 years in consultancy, commercial and marketing management roles in industries including retail, tourism, media, healthcare and education. The last few years she has worked in tech and startups, including as CMO at TPX Impact and head of marketing and communications at FutureLearn. Tania is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, has an MBA and a Diploma in Digital Business Leadership.
