Alessandra Fassio

Advocacy and Relations Manager at the Data for Children Collaborative with UNICEF

Alessandra Fassio is the Advocacy and Relations Manager at the Data for Children Collaborative with UNICEF, where she leads the development and implementation of their Responsible Innovation framework. This is a set of steps and tools that underpin all of the Collaborative’s activity, helping them to deliver Data for Good projects both in the right way and for the right reasons, with children and their rights at the centre of everything they do. This framework ensures that ethics, safeguarding, legal elements and youth participation are all core to project design, rather than afterthoughts.

Alessandra has experience in designing practical and accessible ethical toolkits that enable organisations to embed ethical decision-making into data science projects. Prior to joining the Collaborative, she completed her master’s degree at the University of Edinburgh. She has an academic background in Philosophy, with a particular interest in data ethics and the relationship between technology and society.
