Kirsten Urquhart BEM is the Chief Executive at Scotland’s national youth information and citizenship charity, Young Scot. As an ambassador for Young Scot, Kirsten is a passionate advocate for young people in Scotland. She drives the strategic vision of the organisation, leading the team to ensure they deliver efficient and effective services that support young people to thrive and make the most of their lives as they grow up in Scotland.
As a qualified librarian, Kirsten’s career started in the library sector and is passionate about information literacy for young people. Kirsten then moved into third sector and private sector roles with a focus on digital/tech innovation – ensuring that universal and targeted services remain relevant and responsive for future generations of young people in Scotland. In 2021 Kirsten was awarded a British Empire Medal for services to young people during COVID 19.
